Legal Question in Personal Injury in Illinois

What type of attorney do I need

I co-signed a 75K loan for a relative using my home as collateral. The check was made out to his company with the verbal promise of repayment. He defaulted on the loan & I had to remortgage my home as not to lose it. Do I have any legal grounds to sue him for my money? If I do what type of attorney do I need?

Hello. In my opinion you should sue

the relative immediately. They clearly are taking advantage of the relationship. Clearly it would have been wise to put this in writing, but file a lawsuit anyway. Will be happy to discuss this with you further and in more detail.
