Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

I am in a dispute with my landlord over an enclosed garage space. Currently, I have my car parked along my side of the garage with several feet in front of the car. I would like to store things in front of my car, however, the landlord has told me this is not allow. His reasoning is that my lease, which gives me right to "one garage space" only allows for one car and no storage. Is there any code standard for what defines a garage/parking spot? My car is simple sedan. I am in Chicago, IL, which is Cook County.

Insufficient information. If it's a condo you are renting there may be (and often are) rules and regulations about what can be stored within the 'bounds' of the space. If it is a rental building the landlord can make reasonable rules and regulations, and keeping a garage space clear, sightly etc. is a landlord's prerogative. And then again a reasonable rule can be due to concerns about the possibility of vermin, fires, etc. As far as what "defines" a parking spot, there are certain minimum sizes, but it again depends on the property, and could be defined by markings (striping) or landmarks (wheel stops, posts....).
