Sounds like you are a defendant in a condemnation case, and the State of Illinois or one of its departments is the condemnor. The State has to prove various things, including public purpose, as well as what it thinks the property is worth. If you are fighting the condemnation you have to try to show it does not fulfill a public purpose and that the amount is not right, among other things. But the real issue is you're asking how you defend a condemnation lawsuit in this kind of forum. That is not what this forum is designed to do. There are condemnation attorney who have spent years becoming expert at prosecuting and defending these kinds of cases. Depending on how much the State is offering, don't you think it is worth getting yourself the proper kind of legal help?
