Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

How do I go about selling a property which has a child support lien on it? My husband has approx $15K in child support debt....the house is only worth about $15K. We pay child support biweekly. We are aware the proceeds would go directly to child support, but can we even sell the house? Would new owner have a lien as well since lien goes with the property? Thanks Sorry, I meant debt is $50K

It should be possible to work through this since you acknowledge that the proceeds should all go toward the lien. See a real estate closing attorney to help you work through the details so the property is sold with the buyers free and clear of the lien. You did not specify your location, but many real estate attorneys work in a wide geographic area.
