Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Illinois

A tenant moved out of my apartment 6 mo. early due to a job promotion. He said part of the relocation package was the company was to pay the remainder of the lease.

I have not heard from the tenant or the the company.

I have sent 2 letters asking when someone would honor the agreement. What else can I do as the landlord??

Sounds like you may have been snookered. Apparently all you have is an oral representation of the tenant/employee's relocation 'package'. You don't say who you sent the letters to. The employee, or the company? Or both? If you know where the mployee moved and/or his employer, I suggest you consider getting an attorney to file a lawsuit for rent for you (although you may have an obligation to try to re-rent it and if you don't what you could have made by re-renting it could be deducted from whatever you get a judgment for.....) especially if your least allows attorney fees to be paid to you for enforcing it. If you don't know where the employee is or who he works for, you may need to hire a detective to do a skip trace first. Either way, hire an attorney who may be able to help put pressure on the employer if this 'package' was/is real.
