Legal Question in Tax Law in Illinois

My father, unbenownst to me, has put my name on his business as secretary/treasurer. I have never had any affliation with his business. Now, I am getting mail from the IRS that I could have my wages garnished if he doesn't send in his tax information. I was not even aware I was listed as this until I received a letter from the IRS in the mail! This is a business he has opened in Illinois. I don't even know where to start, I called the IRS, they said to fill out a general affadavit and for me to call the state attorneys office. I did and they said my name could be on several applications he submitted..liquor liscence, etc and advised me to send off for some copies that would show this...should I hire an attorney? I live in Missouri and his business is in Illinois. Please help!!!

Please let me know if I can assist you. I am currently working on something very similar, and have done so in the past as well.
