Legal Question in Tax Law in Illinois

I paid the property taxes last year on our 2 flat building in which we both reside, but the tax bill is in my sister's name. Can I still claim this on my personal taxes, and if so, what do I need to submit in order to prove that I made the payments, and not my sister?

You can deduct real estate taxes paid if you have an ownership interest in the real estate. It doesn't matter to whom the county issues their invoice, in order to deduct the taxes you have to have paid them and your name has to be on the title as an owner.
