Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

Hello,

I am a citizen of Canada and have my will prepared in Canada. Currently I am residing in the USA. If something happens to me while living in the USA, will the Canadian will be followed or do I have to prepare separate US will?

Thank you

Hana

A foreign will (properly drafted and executed) will be recognized in Illinois. However, if you plan to live here for more than a short period of time, it would be advisable to update your estate planning here.
