Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

My mother passed away a few weeks ago. She had a will, a trust and power of attorney for medical and one for property. I am executor of all and beneficiary of life insurance policy. She owns a few investments and a condo outright. Do I need to hire an attorney to help process everything?

An attorney would need more detailed information to determine exactly what needs to be done based on the situation. You would benefit from hiring an attorney to review everything to determine and advise you on what needs to be done. It's possible that the legal work would be limited and you would be able to handle on your own from there.

You'll know if you need help after you try to collect the estate. And don't forget to plan for what will happen to what your mother left you if something happens to you -- your death or serious disability. It's probably a good idea to make new beneficiary designations and update your own estate planning documents, especially if you have minor children.
