Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

When a Trustee or beneficiary to a trust changes their name can a simple amendment be filed to reflect the change in name?

When a settlor of a will changes their name is it sufficient for a codicil be drafted to reflect that change?

Just as drafting a will is a task better suited to the use of an attorney, so the resolution of your concerns would be best addressed by consulting an attorney in your area. Codicils (to wills) and amendments (to trust agreements) must follow the same signing formalities as the original documents. Whether changes are required, desired or appropriate, this is something best not done without an attorney.
