Legal Question in Banking Law in India

Dear Sir/Madam,

I request you to kindly help me from a cheque bounce case.I will explain you in detail, My mother has taken some amount from a bank and she has repaid almost all the amount and she could not pay some amount and asked the concerned banker to give sometime and she wud repay that amount also. but he asked for m ore amont but my mother said very fairly that she will be paying only some ore amount which is reall to be paid. and it took place i 2008 year ending and later she has forgotten bout the amount as no one had come to collect the amount. and now we got a call from the bangalore police saying that she is accused in a cheque bounce case and she has to be arrested. they caled a week back and they asked us to talk to the concerned lawyer and gave the lawyers number. The told that we should immediately talk to the lawyer andaswer them back tjat day itself. We have talken to the lawyer and he said that we have to pay the principal amount Out Court else it would be four times the amount we were acused of if it is In court. But the amoubt they are telling is not at all the amount which we ned to pay. We are in a middle class family d cannot pay such huge amoun and its unfair on their part to claim such an amount. We have told the same to the bangalore police and he said that he cannot do anything other than drafing the complaint to the local Andhra Police station. They have even said that they sent the intimation a year back but we are not residing at that place from last 1 year hence we did not know that ,and now they are saying that my mother will be arrested immediately if we will not pay the amount.

Now my question is that, if anything is sent legally they should give them directly to avoid such instances that we might miss them?

Also what is the actual procedure for the non bailable arrest warrant whcih has been claimed towards my mother.Kindly help me from this issue.

If it is a non bailable warrant, take the help of a lawyer in the place where the case is filed, move for bail and defend the proceedings with his help. No use in posing the problem in this portal.
