Legal Question in Consumer Law in India

I have automobile workshop. Customer normally do not take delivery after repairs/ servicing and keep the vehicle is the workshop, leading to space constraint. Can I levy parking charges from the date of keeping the vehicle ready till the date of taking delivery? By levying such charge, am I responsible for safety of the vehicle? Please inform with supporting judgments/decisions etc.

yes you can charge but for that you have to display this out side of your garage and secondly you have to mention delivery time on bill while taking vehicle and you cannot delay else people will file harassment cases and take charges and harassment. Further you also have to pay service tax, as you will earn from parking charges.

Good luck

i agree with Adv Gupta adding that you will have to give your customers prior information about charges.

You can charge parking fees, but at the same time, irrespective of any disclaimer or any form you get signed, you will be liable for its safety, because the same is under custody.
