Legal Question in Civil Litigation in India

Advance payment

I planned to sell my land. After oral agreement with buyer they have given Rs.5,000/- as advance that I not to give word to other. The process is going on from 3 moths they are calling and telling that they will come and give some advance and they will write the agreement. Due to this I have not given word to any body about land even I recd. more offer. Now they called and told that they are not interested to buy land bcz their grandma expired. They have given crossed cheque on my name. I credit the cheque. Now they are asking return the cheque. Other wise they are going to give policement complaint against me. We have not written any agreement all this was oral. Pl. advise me in this matter . The cheque of Rs.5,000/- Crossed and on my name without date.

Re: Advance payment

Return the amount to them because going through unecessary legal procedures and hassels will cost you more and leave you no where.
