Legal Question in Immigration Law in India

I gave up my Citizenship with India because I got american citizenship. Can I have dual citizenship? Also I am o.k. with having only Indian citizenship. Is there anyway to have dual citizenship and is there any way for me to get my Indian citizenship back? I was born in India.

You may need too consult an American Immigration Lawyer for leaving American citizenship. You may be entitled to apply for Indian citizenship only when you return to India and submit all documents showing that you are not a citizen of any other country.

While the U.S. allows dual citizenship, India does not. Depending on your reasoning for wanting Indian Citizenship again, you may want to consider applying for an OCI card instead of giving up your U.S. Citizenship. An OCI card will allow you to work and travel hassle free to India. If you would like to discuss this matter further, please feel free to contact me at 415-273-9123 or [email protected]
