stamp duty

I purchased my flat in Febuary 1984 registered it and gave the original agreement to the registrar who has not returned the document. Do I have to pay stamp duty?

No stamp duty payable on agreement.

However, stamp duty will be required to be paid on conveyance.

Since your agreement is lodged for registration, you need not worry about the same.

Your facts are incomplete. Where did you purchase the falt? When did you gave the original agreement to the Registrar? Is it an agreement to sell or the conveyance deed? please supply complete details for proper opinion.
