A nonresident is usually not subject to the jurisdiction of the court of another state. However, if the court in the other state at one time had jurisdiction over you for some reason, then a valid judgment could be entered against you. Thereafter, the creditor can enlist the aid of the state in which you reside to enforce that judgment. Your best bet is to make peace with these people ASAP.

IF YOU OWE SOMETHING, YOU SHOULD PAY IT.
