Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

I just received a 3000 loan from a friend to save my home from a tax sale and he mentioned a dummy mortgage to have some sort of agreement. I've never heard of that and would like to know what's the correct way to make an written agreement that won't offend my friend for his help.
