Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

i received a summons on my doorstep . I live in Indiana. Being sued by discover card. With the paperwork, they included a statement from July 2010. Up until 2014 I was using Care one credit along with Persels and associates making payments through a debt consolidation plan. My questions are-1. Can a summons be left on your doorstep? 2. Does this debt fall within the statute of limitations in Indiana? 3. The paperwork states I must respond and what do I say? Thanks

Yes, the summons can be left on your doorstep. It's the best place because you found it! The debt falls within the contractual statute of limitations. By respond, it means that you just enter your appearance and file an answer to the complaint. I would get an attorney---this isn't a do-it-yourself project. Perhaps you should also contact the other side and see if you can work out a plan. You must file your answer and appearance within 23 days of date of service.
