Legal Question in Criminal Law in Indiana

A friend gave me a tv and other things, he passed away and his wife is threatening to report these items stolen. She claims to have records. They were bought by his credit card or bank card. I have no proof they were gifted to me. Will I have to turn these items over to her? Do I have any rights to these items that are in my possession?

You may take the position that they were gifts, and let her sue you for replevin, i.e. return of the items. If she reports it to the police, they will investigate, and may believe you or not. You have to ask yourself whether the items are worth it, which may be affected by the circumstances of the gift, other witnesses to it, and why the wife is not willing to believe in or accept the fact of the gifts.
