Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Can a 17yo be left alone 3 weeks out of the month?

I have a friend, his daughter is 17, she will be turning 18 in June of 2007.

My friend just accepted a job where he will travel 3 weeks out of the month. He will come home for one week. His daugher will reside in the home alone. She is responsible, she drives ect. He will be paying all the bills ect.

Family will be around should an emergency arise. He also can be contacted but he will be out of the state for most of the time.

Are there any legal issues that need to be considered for this living arrangement?

I appreciate any information!

I don't care how responsible this young lady is, in the eyes of the law she is still a child. If something bad were to happen, the issue of child endangerment could easily be raised. The list you recite sounds like a bunch of justification. This young lady still needs daily adult supervision. To think of leaving her alone is not a responsible decision.
