Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

abandonment

on april 9th 2006 my son and his grilfriend were arrested.my son gave me a written note that i was to care for my granddaughter until someone got out of jail.the mother got out of jail came home for 1 week and left which has been 7 weeks ago, I might alao add without any supervision, money or food. now.my granddaughter will not listen to me and has a 17 year old boyfriend and she's staying at his parents house with him.i might add my granddaughter just turned 15 last month.Who or what can I do to either get custody or have her award of the court so that somebody as some say of her activities.

my questions are:

1. how or where do i file abandonment charges on the mother?

2.does the note that the father wrote give me any rights?

Neither father nor mother have filed legal custody they just have pasted her back and forth or have lived together. I might also add I have had custody of my grandson since he was 3 years old and he turned 16 yesterday.

Please help really confused here.

Re: abandonment

You should report her actions to Children and Familuy Services. Additionally, you should file for an Emergency Guardianship and then Permanent Guardianship. Your son's letter may be considered when a judge makes a decision.
