Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

adoption

Hello,

I have a soon to be 6 year old daughter whos biological father has not been in her life for about 4 1/2 years, no support of any kind nore any interest in seeing her. He is able to get ahold of me if he chooses but has not done so all these years and we live in the same county. I am married and Have been for the last year my husband and I have been together since my daughter has been 11 moths old she knows him as her dad and only him due to the bios not persuing his porental rights. We have went throught he adoption process and the judge ruled that the bios concent was needed for the adoption to my amasment. the only thing he brought to court when wanting to contest was 3 pictures of her when she was 1. I was under the impresion that if a biological father fails to SUPPORT the child and have SUGNIFICANT contact with the child for 1 year ( in this case it has been 4) that consent from him would not be needed. during the adoption process he has filed a motion for support and visitation under his attornys advisement, wich I am contesting and have an appel for the consent also. Is there any advice that you can give me. My daughter does not know this man because he has neglected to do anything until now.

Re: adoption

You need to continue to objct to his motion and pursue your appeal, preferably with an experienced family law practitioner.
