Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

Emancipation

my child is 19 and graduated HS in May. His mom is trying to get him emancipated and i was wondering if online college at a non accredited school will be sufficient for continuing to collect support. She is saying the marion county child support division office says it has to be an accredited college is this correct?

Re: Emancipation

Child support continues in Indiana until age 21 unless the child is emancipated. The mother is confusing college expense contribution with child support. The issue is whether your child has married, entered the service or is other wise able to live independently. The fact that the child graduated high school is not enough for emancipation.
