Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

My grandson, age 8, in his words "thrown" by his mother's live-in boyfriend. My grandson, along with his little brother (not my grandson), and his pregnant mother were in an accident. She was taken to the hospital, and her boyfriend had the two boys (age 8 and 5). Boyfriend told the boys to clean their shared room. Being boys, they argued over where clothes went. Boyfriend came in, one-handed picked up my grandson under the armpit putting him on his tippy-toes and pushed him back, making him fall on the floor. My grandson said that he was "scared" when this happened. Boyfriend has, at one other time, pushed him making him fall on the floor. Mother was aware of that situation, but not the latest incident that just happened, as she is in the hospital. My son wants to know his legal rights before confronting them. Can you tell me what rights my son has in this situation? He lives in Indianapolis, Indiana. Please help.

All your son's rights cannot possibly be explained in a computer forum. Your son (not you) needs to contact an attorney in his community to discuss what steps he should take under these circumstances.
