Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Indiana

I have Grubb and Ellis in Indiana trying to charge me commission when the property in Indiana the listing started june 30, 2010, and expired on june 30, 2011. I notified the agent on october 24, 2010 that i wanted to terminate our agreement, knowing that it will terminate on june 30, 2011. in late july i had to pay off a debt and sold the property for a loss to someone i met through my uncle. now grubb and ellis wants to charge me. the agent never told them i wanted to terminate the agreement. i even have a text message to the agent stating that, and i am trying to find the short letter somewhere. not only that, but i repeatedly asked him to change prices, etc and he never did. he didnt respond to my calls, emails, or text messages. The text I sent on October 24 states "Cancel contract. It's not like you are representing me". Now, they (meaning corporate) havent seen the text message or letter, and the agent obviously didnt take me seriously when i wanted to terminate the agreement. Is there any advice you may may give me as to my legal position in this situation?

You cannot unilaterally terminate the agreement. It most likely ran until 06/30/11.
