Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Indiana

my father took out a reverse mortgage on his home a few years ago. He passed away recently and we're dealing with the estate now. We have discovered that there is no legal paperwork filed with our local government on the mortgage. They have also not file a claim against the state with to go to close approximately 1 month. If there is no lien in new claim filed are we obligated to pay this?

If your estate attorney confirms these facts, it sounds like the land will be free and clear of that mortgage.
