Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Indiana

my grandfather had a will which states that his possessions were to be split between his 5 children. How is it possible for one of the children to get money from this will without anyone else present? Also, how is it possible for that same child get money from this will and distribute it to the others if the will states that everything is to be split equally?

1. How is it possible for one of the children to get money from this will without anyone else present?

Please repost with more facts. An heir does not have to have all other heirs present in the room with her at the moment she receives her inheritance. I think your question is different, but can not be determined from what you have posted.

2.Also, how is it possible for that same child get money from this will and distribute it to the others if the will states that everything is to be split equally?

There are many circumstances in which this could happen. For example, a child who is personal representative of the estate sells a car owned by the decedent, and then writes four equal checks for the net proceeds of the sale to the four heirs. I am not sure what the complaint is if the heirs are supposed to get the money and they DID get it, as your posting suggests.
