Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Indiana

My sister passed away. There is no estate or P O A. I have a refund check for her utilities in her name. Can i deposit in? Or throw it away

If you are the only heir, you can probably deposit it. But you'll have to go to your own bank for details. They will probably require that you provide them with the small estate affidavit which they can prepare for you or which an attorney can prepare.
