Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Iowa

My husband was assaulted tonight walking home from the gas station by 4 juveniles who were intoxicated.

My husband is unable to defend himself due to being electrocuted and is missing his thumb on one hand and his index finger on the other hand. He cannot punch or anything like that due to nerve damage.

He got them off of him and came into the house to do the right thing and call the police. Two officers were sent to our home I would give you their names but they did not think we needed that information. As soon as your officer ran my husbands name the woman officer because very rude and short with us. Did not know why my husband was wasting their time with this.

The woman officer gave me a nasty look when I came out of the house to make sure my husband was okay. Your officer did not ask my husband if he was okay or not. He was punched repeatedly in the back of the head. He has 3 large lumps on the back of his head. He is also disabled due to a brain tumor they found 5 years ago. Your officer asked what my husband wanted done he said he wanted them arrested. Your officer said she would go see what she could do.

The woman officer was gone not even two minutes and came back to my house and said she could not do anything because it was he said he said. My husband asked if they were given tickets for being intoxicated the officer said no she did not talk to them.

I understand my husband has had trouble with the law but that is no reason for the police to treat his assault like it was not a crime. What would have happened if they would have shot my husband would they consider that not a crime as well. I go to work every day. I pay my taxes that pay their wages. I want something done about this.

What's your legal question? Did you take him to the hospital?
