Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
My brother tore up his pants in county jail and attempted suicide after telling them for days he was going to kill himself. The caught him in time to cut him down. They put him in a paper suif amd thats it. Didnt call family of get him a three day evaluation. He was able to call us a couple days later when he got a phone card with money I sent him. Is this right? Should he get an attorney fot this? We are from Creston Iowa and the county attorney runs everything and does not like my brother. My nephew by marriage was working that night and he couldnt tell any of us what happened. Thank you in advance for any advice or information you can offer.

I'm trying to understand what the legal question is. If you're asking whether your brother should sue the county because they didn't get him a mental health evaluation I don't know enough about it on the facts you've given to say whether it is a good idea or not. I can tell you that most attorneys will not tackle such a lawsuit without a substantial retainer to fund litigation. It's likely to be pretty expensive.
