Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

change of venue????

If someone files for a divorve in another state, like Colorado, and then moves to Iowa, can they request a change of venue to have the divorce proceedings changed to Iowa. There is one child in the divorce that would be moving to iowa with the parent. the other parent lives in a completely different state. any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Re: change of venue????

I don't see why not, although it probably would trigger the residency requirement. Perhaps the better solution would be to continue the Colorado divorce if it is to be uncontested, or better dismiss it and refile in the Iowa courts when you gain residency in Iowa.
