Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

I am debating on if i should go for child support or not depending on what the visitation out come could be. My child's father and I have never been married. He is not on the birth certificate. We had a financial agreement which he hasn't held up to very well. I do take my son to see him every weekend (with me there) His family lives in another state which worries me with him being alone so I do not allow it. He also stated while I was pregnant if I went for child support he would try to make sure neither of us have my son. My son is only 5 months old and I do every thing for my son. I'm really just wanting to know the probability of supervised visitation given some of my worries and concerns as a mother and sole parent. I have no issue him seeing his son but I don't agree with him seeing him alone.

Before you get any farther down this path you need to go to court for a custody and support order. That means you need to hire a lawyer. Protect your rights and do not respond to idle threats. Shoot first and ask questions later. If you file first he's on the defensive. Make him pay for the children he sires.
