Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

I was married to a South African citizen in Johannesburg in 2007. The relationship ended two months later and I returned to the US. I never claimed married status on any tax form or any other legal document. Do I need to file for divorce in the US?

To be on the safe side you ought to file for a dissolution if you are an Iowa resident and you were legally married in South Africa. It's not all that difficult.
