Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

I am from muscatine, IA. I have a son that was removed from his mother by DHS and her rights terminated by the court and permanently placed in my home. Prior to his removal from his mothers home I had no knowledge I had a son and was contacted by DHS after she suggested I may be the father. Paternity was then established and I was given sole custody. When my son was born he had another father, the one that signed his birth certificate and also has his last name. I would like to know how I can get his last name changed to the same as mine?

I see that you have two questions. Can you change his name on the birth certificate, and can you change the child's name. Review the following information and see if it helps.
