Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

Reimbursement from ex-spouse for health insurance for children

My husband has three children from a previous marriage. he pays child support for two minors and the other one is 18 and attending college. His divorce decree states that each of them must pay for half the cost of medical insurance for the children. Cureently, all 3 children are insured on my family health insurance policy through my job. It comes out of my check, $250 month. Also insured are myself, my husband, and my 7-month old daughter. How much is his ex-wife responsible for? (I assume $125) How do we go about getting her to pay this? She has often used a court order which is attached to their divorce papers to get additional money from him for prescriptions, etc. But this has her typed in as the petitioner and him the respondent, so I don't think it is just a generic form to be used by both parties. Should he get a court order? How does one do that? The kids have been on my insurance for 6 months. I am trying to avoid spending money for a lawyer when this seems like something that should be fairly simple. Thank you for any help you can provide!!

You are mistaken in thinking this is going to be simple and you are encouraged to seek competent legal assistance in this matter. If she is not complying with the agreement as it is written your husband will have to go to court to get a judge to order her to do so.
