Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

I was a single mother of 3 girls. I met my husband and quickly fell in love with him. I used my whole tax return to take him on an extravagant wedding/honeymoon in the Bahamas. I feel that he used me and only married me for the vacation. The proof is that we have only been married for 6 months and he is mentally and verbally abusive to me and he refuses to use counseling to even save our marriage. I see divorce as inevitable. Can I also sue him for the money that I spent on our vacation? He helped a very little to pay but nothing compared to what I spent on us. I feel he took advantage of a single mom.

The short answer is, if you could prove what you say and that you had been defrauded-by no means a certainty- you might be able to get a judgment, but then you would be faced with the problem of collecting it which would be almost impossible and expensive to boot. For some reason people do not like paying judgments. And, of course there would be the problem of funding litigation at $150 per hour or more, cash up front and no making payments because there's little chance of prevailing and even less chance of getting paid.
