Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Iowa

I work for a restaurant that delivers a lot to company meetings. I was working on a delivery order with another co-worker, and we finished the order right as it was about to go out. The manager didn't check it as he should have, and delivered it. The customer called later that day and complained that the order was incomplete when delivered. The manager is compensating them with a gift card, and he says he's going to take it out of my paycheck by cutting back my hours. Is that legal?

No. You cannot be penalized for your manager's mistakes. You should call the office of the labor commissioner if he attempts to garnish your check. On the other hand you could get fired because it is a right to work state.
