Legal Question in Social Security Law in Iowa

My aunt and uncle divorced years ago,then they got back together but they didn't get married .They lived together as man and wife for over 20 years.My uncle died yesterday.In Iowa if a couple live together for 7 years it is considered a common law marriage.Can my aunt get my uncles social security.

I would think that your aunt would have to prove to the satisfaction of the social security administration that their relationship met the test of a common law marriage as that is recognized in Iowa.
