Legal Question in Traffic Law in Iowa

I live in Iowa and I was pulled over for a speeding ticket for 60 mph in a 45 mph zone. I have a high end radar detector and it never went off prior to being pulled over. I think the officer knew I was going over the speed limit, but was a long ways away from me and was unable to tag me with his radar. I asked him to see the radar and he refused this request. I have this request on audio recording. Does the officer have to show me the radar if I request it? Do I have a case to fight this?

I don't know that you're entitled to see the reading on the radar. I can tell you that your best avenue of approach is to make the officer recite the calibration drill if he can. What this ought to tell you is to not trust radar detectors. As you've found out they're not foolproof.

I can also tell you that police radar can look rearward at you as you're going away and if your detector is line of sight it'll never know what hit it.
