Legal Question in Workers Comp in Iowa

broken vertabrate

i broke two vertabrate in my neck, falling at my employers home where i work. I fell on tarp laid out by some painters. I was rushed to the emeregency room. I found out about the breaks, which are C3 and c4 by the way. I was referred to a neurosurgeon, due to a tingling sensation throughout my body. The insurance hasn't gone through, and it's been almost a week. I can't work, I can't go look for another job, I can't do anything other than wait. The tingling hasn't gone away and I am not allowed to take off the brace. I was wondering what I should do. This is making it difficult to raise money for bills or rent. The insurance guy is not even going to schedule an appointment with me until Thursday or Friday, and I can't pay for anything else until then. Please help.

re: vertabrae

This sounds like a very serious situation. First and foremost, are you getting the appropriate medical care? Have you reported the claim to your employer and documented the facts with witnesses, photographs, etc. Does your employer have workers compensation coverage? What was the cause of the fall? Was it the ladder or scaffold? Who erected it? You may also have a 3rd party or negligence claim. You should seek prompt legal advise under the circumstances. This is not a situation you can handle on your own. I would be happy to answer specific questions if you would provide me the detailed answers to the above questions. Good Luck!
