Legal Question in DUI Law in Kansas

I was walking with a nearly empty beer can on the sidewalk and was charged with open container. I live in Kansas, but my court date happens to be when I'll be in Mexico. I'll be there for six months. What can I do to avoid having a warrant out for my arrest because the officer said that is what will happen if I don't show up? I was not driving, and I am over 21.

It appears that you will need to bite counsel to appear on your behalf, on order to avoid a warrant.

If you retain an attorney, they can request a continuance on your behalf. As long as there is no lay witness or warrant, the judge would probably grant it. Feel free to contact me if I can be of assistance.
