Legal Question in Personal Injury in Kansas

Slander

We had a dispute 2 years ago with one of our neighbors. After that time we determined it best not to associate with them, and there has been little or no discussion with them. Several of the children in the neighborhood used to come over here to play basketball, talk, etc. We noticed they slowly stopped coming around but leading busy lives never really stopped to consider why. Yesterday one of the kids told us that the neighbor had instructed her not to accept a piece of gum from my husband because we gave poison to kids. I am upset to the point of writing to her and letting her know that we know this and would like her to stop immediately. Is a letter of this type legal? Please advise. Thank you very much.

Re: Slander

This is not a legal problem. You should attempt to resolve your problems with the neighbors. Children have a tendancy to embellish a lot. Don't assume that the neighbor is spreading untruth without better evidence - not inferences or rumor.

You might want to sponsor a neighborhood block party or something similar to spark a better and friendlier association.
