Legal Question in Business Law in Kentucky

What rights do I have in regards to a business owned by my husband as a sole propietorship that was opened during our marriage. We are getting divorced, and he claims that i have no rights to the business even though i helped him open it, as well as spend countless hours working there and dealing with vendor issues. We live in Kentucky which is a commonwealth state. The business was opened after two years of marriage, we have been married for 3.

If he opened the business during the marriage, then you do in fact have an interest in the assets of the business, or de facto partial ownership of the business. However, the converse is true, meaning if the business is encumbered with any debts, you could legally be liable for a portion of those debts.

The other attorney is right on point here. Also a review of all facts, documents, etc. is required. After that, a personal consultation is needed. This is not a simple bulletin board type question. Consult with an attorney in your area for specifics.
