Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

child support

When my daughter reaches 18 years of age am I still required to pay child support to her mother. My daughter is a junior in high school and is a special ed. student. I would like to put money into a checking account in my daughters name and continue to help her but do not want to pay to her mother, from whom I have been divorced since 1999.

Re: child support

First, you have to check the divorce decree/separation agreement to see if a different result was reached. The statute calls for child support to continue if the child is in high school after age 18. It continues until the child graduates or turns 19, whichever comes first.
