Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Kentucky

So, I just had my grandmother tell me that a lawyer was looking for me to sign some paperwork regarding property my father owned while I was a minor. Apparently someone botched paperwork when dealing with the property and my grandmother signed as my father's heir, though she was not. I am an only child, so I would be the heir. So they want me to sign paperwork now that I am of age, and have been for almost a decade now, so that someone can purchase the property. My question is, is this my property? If it is not, why would I have to sign anything regarding the property? If this is not my property and I have nothing to do with it, it seems bizarre that I would be the person standing in the way of anything dealing with the property. I was under the impression this property was gone long ago. If, by any chance, this property is legally mine, there is no way I am going to let it go. I would be greatly appreciative a skilled eye on this.

Hello and thank you for choosing LawGuru.

From what you have told me here you likely have some kind of interest in the property otherwise they wouldn't need your signature. Having said that, I can't be sure without seeing the actual document.

Since you are located near me, I suggest you contact me at 859-358-0300 or [email protected] before you sign the document and I will review it for you. Don't sign it without having an attorney review it first.

I wish you all the best!
