Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana

My son is on probabtion for a simple theft charge since 2008. Last week a gun was giving to him by an adult. He went to throw it away but accidently was shot when the gun went off. The police came to the house and got him to go with him to the scene and show him where the gun was this monday (31st). I was not present and he did not ask my permission to talk with him or go with him. He just turned 17 the 31st and was 16 when he was shot last week. They also questioned him at hospital before I arrived. Now they are saying they might file a possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, etc... Many unappropriate things were said to him my one of the police officers. What is gonna happen now and what do I need to do?

The good news is he was a juvenile when it happened. This means he probably can win a motion to suppress and cannot be charged as an adult.

The bad news is your son lets people give him guns. No good will come of that.
