Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

My ex husband adopted my disabled daughter while we were married. When we purchased our home, I signed as a co-borrower when he got a loan from his Thrift Savings Plan for home improvement purposes. When he decided on the divorce settlement (I had no choice but to agree with him, he's very controlling), he made sure to put in the paperwork that if I were to seek child support, that I would have to pay him for the home improvement loan. What he failed to mention to his attorney is that my daughter is disabled and receives SSI from the state. Also, I can no longer seek child support from her biological father since he has assumed full responsibility for her. My question is, do I have any legal rights to appeal this decision? Whether I get child support or SSI, the money will be the same. It's the principle of the matter that concerns me. I think he should be responsible for paying child support.

I suggest you discuss this with a family law attorney. Louisiana law frowns on parents dodging their child support obligations.
