Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

restraining orders

I am a defendant in a permanent injunction for relief. It went through the louisiana court system and i live in New York. My girl friend(age 19) lives with her dad in louisiana and her dad hates me.....he filed it! I never lived in louisiana and i live in new york....if I violate the restraining order.... can louiisnana put me in jail if i live in Newe york? how does that work?

Would have to know what the injunction forbids you from doing. I assume it injoins you from going to the man's property and possibly from calling his house. If you disobey a legal court order, then you can be held in contempt of court. Can't say how the court would decide to enforce it, but again would assume you would be ordered before the court to show cause why you should not be found in contempt.
