Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Louisiana

car payments

I got a loan for a used car with my stepdaughter for her car. Not co-signing, her name and my name are both on the notes and car registration. I did this to try to start to build credit. She is supposed to be paying for the car and insurance. She hasn't paid in 4 months. I've been paying to keep my credit in good standing and also buying her insurance since if she gets in a wreck I believe I could be held liable. Can anything be done to get me out of this?

Re: car payments

I agree with Andrew. If you are not on the title, you could go through the trouble of suing her, but since she is your daughter, ask her to sign it over to you. Failing there, take it back.

Re: car payments

If you're both on the title, take away the car & sell it.
