What are my chances at getting an egagement ring back from an ex-fiance if she broke the engagement?

Re: Engagement Ring

Usually, the engagement ring is given in exchange for the promise to marry. If the marriage takes place, the promise is fulfilled and the ring is her's. Conversely, if the marriage does not take place, then the ring should be returned. I have personally retrieved an engagement ring through the courts, but that was years ago. There is no way to predict the outcome only hearing one side of the situation.
